1、 Disease Prevention: Preventing Contact Infectious Diseases
Due to their structural characteristics, metal cages are interconnected and usually separated by several iron wires, aluminum wires, or metal mesh sheets. This structure provides convenience for the spread of bacteria, viruses, and parasites, especially rabbit plague, rabbit coccidiosis, rabbit scabies, etc. Once they break out, the harm is quite serious. Therefore, disease prevention is the top priority for the safety of metal cages.
Daily cleaning: Thoroughly clean the metal pet cage every day, removing pet excrement and food residue, and keeping the cage environment clean.
Regular disinfection: The metal cage should be thoroughly disinfected every 7 days, and pet specific disinfectants can be chosen to reduce the growth of bacteria and viruses. It should be noted that the type and frequency of use of disinfectants should be adjusted appropriately according to the type and health condition of pets.
Isolate sick pets: Once a pet is found to have symptoms of an infectious disease, it should be immediately isolated and the metal cage thoroughly cleaned and disinfected to prevent the spread of the disease to other pets.
2、 External injury prevention: eliminate sharp spikes and unhooking
Metal cages may have sharp spikes, protruding hooks, or deformed mesh during production, which pose potential threats to pets and caregivers.
Careful inspection: Before placing pets in the metal pet cage, caregivers should carefully inspect every corner of the cage to ensure there are no sharp spikes or unhooking. If these problems are found, they should be dealt with in a timely manner, such as sanding sharp areas with sandpaper or using pliers to level the decoupling.
Choose high-quality products: When purchasing metal cages, it is advisable to choose products produced by reputable manufacturers to ensure their quality and safety. 3、 Anti foot dermatitis: laying soft materials
The hard surface of the metal cage facing the pet's foot skin can easily cause friction and compression, leading to the occurrence of foot dermatitis. This issue is particularly prominent in sensitive animals such as rabbits.
Laying wooden boards or plastic pads: Laying a 30cm wide wooden board or plastic pad inside a metal cage can effectively reduce direct contact between pet feet and metal mesh, thereby reducing the incidence of foot dermatitis.
Choose appropriate cushioning materials: In addition to wooden and plastic pads, pet specific foot pads or anti slip pads can also be selected. These cushioning materials usually have the characteristics of softness, wear resistance, and easy cleaning, which can better protect the skin of pets' feet.
Regular inspection of padding: Padding may wear or deform during use, so feeding personnel should regularly inspect and replace it with new padding to ensure its effectiveness and safety.
4、 Anti escape: Reasonably design the distance between the cage door and the metal wire
If the distance between the cage door and the metal wire of the metal cage is not properly designed, it is easy for pets to escape or get stuck and get injured.
Reasonably design the cage door: The cage door should be designed to be both firm and easy to open and close, to ensure that pets cannot open the cage door on their own. At the same time, the lock buckle of the cage door should be firm and reliable to prevent pets from biting or pushing it open.
Adjust the spacing between metal wires: The spacing between metal wires should be adjusted reasonably according to the type and size of the pet. For young or small pets, the spacing between metal wires should be appropriately reduced to prevent them from escaping or getting stuck. 6、 Preventing direct sunlight: Reasonable layout and shading measures
The interconnected structure around the metal cage makes it easy for sunlight to shine directly on pets, leading to health problems such as heatstroke.
Reasonable layout: Place the metal cage in a cool and ventilated location, avoiding direct sunlight. If conditions permit, shading facilities such as sunshades or nets can be built above the metal cage.
Good ventilation: Ensure sufficient ventilation space around the metal cage to promote air circulation and heat dissipation. At the same time, regularly open the cage door for ventilation and air exchange to reduce the temperature and humidity inside the cage.
Avoid high temperature periods: During high temperature periods (such as summer noon), try to avoid keeping pets in metal cages for a long time to reduce the occurrence of health problems such as heatstroke.
7、 Corrosion and rust prevention: extending service life
Metal cages are susceptible to corrosion and rusting by chemical substances during use, which affects their service life and safety.
Choose corrosion-resistant materials: When purchasing a metal cage, you can choose materials with good corrosion resistance such as stainless steel and aluminum alloy. These materials can effectively resist the corrosion of chemicals such as pet urine and disinfectants.
Regular cleaning and maintenance: Regularly clean and maintain the metal cage to keep its surface dry and clean. Special metal cleaning agents or rust inhibitors can be used for maintenance treatment.
Reasonable selection of disinfectants: When choosing disinfectants, products with less corrosiveness to metal cages should be selected and used correctly according to the instructions. Avoid using highly corrosive disinfectants such as strong acids and alkalis.
Brushing anti rust paint: Brushing the metal cage once every six months or so can further extend its service life and prevent rust. Choose a specialized anti rust paint for application and ensure even and flawless application.
